Marc Paton
MBChB (Hons), MRNZCGP
Marc graduated from the University of Liverpool with Honours, and received the prize for Community Psychiatry along with the John Leggate Trophy. He gained extensive hospital experience in the UK in medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, and emergency medicine. He immigrated to New Zealand in 2006, and worked as a registrar in general medicine at North Shore and Auckland City Hospitals before becoming a Member of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (MRNZCGP). He is currently undertaking a Masters in General Practice at the University of Otago. Before choosing to become a full-time GP, Marc successfully passed part 1 of the UK Royal College of Physicians examinations. He enjoys caring for a varied population, including children, young families, and older people. His areas of special interest include the management of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, men's health, psychiatry and minor surgery. In his spare time, Marc makes the most of the outdoor pursuits that New Zealand has to offer and enjoys travelling. He plays the piano to a high standard and regularly plays with the music group at St. Paul’s church. He lives in Waimauku and is married to Lois.
Lois Paton
MBChB (Hons), MRNZCGP
Lois graduated from the University of Liverpool and gained MBChB with Honours, along with the Kanthack medal for microbiology. She has a great deal of hospital experience in paediatrics, medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, acute medicine, and geriatrics. She was a clinical research fellow for the Department of Genitourinary Medicine in the UK. She arrived in New Zealand in 2006 and worked in geriatrics at Auckland City Hospital, and as a haematology registrar at North Shore Hospital before commencing general practice. She has also passed part 1 of the UK Royal College of Physicians examinations. She is currently undertaking a Masters in General Practice at the University of Otago.
She is a Member of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (MRNZCGP). She sits on the Auckland Faculty Board of the Royal College, and was recently elected to the central Royal College Council. Her special interests include obstetrics and gynaecology, sexual health and family planning, paediatrics, general medicine, and haematology. Outside of work she enjoys playing guitar and piano, gardening and is a keen but amateur skiier.
Brenda Gordon
RN
Brenda is happily married to Clint and has an 18 month old son, Harrison. She has extensive nursing experience and expertise, and has been nursing for 10 years following completing a Bachelor of Nursing in Napier. After graduation Brenda lived and worked in a variety of locations following her husbands work travels. She has lived and worked in Blenheim, Melbourne, Palmerston North, UK and now Auckland. Brenda says ‘I have been lucky enough to have experienced a wide variety of nursing. Although travelling is wonderful and exciting it is lovely to be settled’. While not working she enjoys being a Mum, gardening, cooking, family time, walking, catching up with friends, family and a good coffee.
Marlena Davies
RN
Marlena grew up in Gisborne and moved to Auckland to train as a nurse. She completed a BHSc Nursing at AUT in 2007 and began working at Starship shortly afterwards. At Starship she worked with a wide range of kids and their families, dealing with a large number of different health concerns. Marlena also speaks basic Te Reo Maori. On a more personal note, Marlena enjoys cooking and baking, gardening, craftwork, reading, movies, music and spending time with her family. Marlena says ‘I believe that health is holistic, it’s about more than just physical wellness and I’m passionate about working with people to achieve their health goals’.
Maria Rawding
Maria emigrated to New Zealand in March 2009 with her husband and son. She previously worked as a medical receptionist in the UK for the past 18 years. Maria joined Silver Fern Medical Centre in September 2009 and loves working within a caring and friendly environment. Maria enjoys socializing and spending quality time with family and friends.
Lynsay Hunt
Lynsay, is a mother of two and is local to the area and have lived in Huapai all her adult life. In her previous position, she has worked with a team bringing quality service to the customer. She has also enjoyed working in a managerial role where she gained excellent teamwork skills and experience. Lynsay says ‘I have a passion for the area and am glad to be able to work in a practice serving the local community’.
Ben Harley
Ben works at the medical centre on Saturdays and is currently in his third year studying to be a doctor at Auckland University. His parents live locally in Waimauku and he knows the area well.
Margie Carron
Margie has lived in Muriwai for most of her life and has a wealth of experience in medical reception. After an interlude of 3 years living in Wanaka, and enjoying regular skiing, she is now back in Muriwai. She is married with 3 daughters. Margie enjoys being part of the local community and meeting new people. Her interests include the outdoors, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Cameron Muirhead
Cameron was brought up in Gisborne and moved to Auckland during his teen years. He works at the medical centre on Saturdays and is currently in his final year of a degree in biomedical science. Once completed, he hopes to gain entry to medical school. He used to run his own business, a designer label outlet, and is interested in music.
