Whooping cough outbreak - Apr 12
We are currently experiencing an outbreak of whooping cough (pertussis) in Waimauku, with several adults and children testing positive in recent weeks.
If you are experiencing severe coughing bouts, please book an appointment, and let the receptionist know you may have whooping cough so we can put you in an isolation room when you arrive. The treatment for whooping cough is antibiotics, and it can be serious in younger children.
If you are an adult working with people on a regular basis, especially a childcare worker, it is probably advisable to get a booster vaccination if you have not had one in the last 10 years.

These are now in stock and the flu season is underway. Vaccines cost just $26 and protect against swine flu and 3 other common strains.
Free flu vaccines are available for people with long-term health conditions. Please ask reception whether you qualify. The flu vaccine is particularly recommended if you are pregnant, asthmatic, or diabetic, as these conditions can suppress your immune system. For more information, see www.fightflu.co.nz more
